Product and Presentation Helps and Ideas

As this semester quickly comes to a close, it is time to begin planning your final product and your presentation. Here are a couple of ideas that can help you.

1.
Time Toast, it is a free interactive time line that allows to you add pictures and text for different dates. You do have to sign up for this free service. Here is a sample one that I have been working on. http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/14555 It is nothing fancy, but you can get the idea.

2.
Mixbook is a free online book publishing program. It is free to use, to create and to share with others, but if you want a hard copy, you will need to purchase it. Go here to view a book that I created.

3.
Photostory is a program that is on all school computers, but you can also download it for free at home. On this program, you can edit pictures, turn pictures into a video, and you can add music and text. Click on any of the samples that have been done for you under the "See it in action" section.

4.
Picasa is a free Google program that is very similar to Photostory. However, Picasa does easily work with Mixbook and many other applications. You can also upload these videos to You Tube. Here is a sample that I have done. Remember, you cannot access You Tube at school so you will need to post it to your account and then log in for your presentation or share with me for product day.

5.
Delicious is a social bookmarking site that allows for you to find and save your bookmarks from anywhere This allows for bookmarks to be easily accessed from many different locations. This is only one choice, there are several free bookmarking sites available.

6.
Toon Doo is an online cartoon creator. Some of you may have a need for this as part of your product or your presentation. There are plenty of samples for you to check out on their website.

7. If you need to do any type of word processing, spreadsheets, drawing or presentations, you can check out Google Docs and Open Office. Each are free and are supposed to be compatible with Office. I have not tried these, but there are tutorials and faqs on their pages.

8. If you would like another place to create presentations, you can try Slide Rocket and Slide Share. You can watch the demos and see presentations that others have done on each website. Remember, that these are not Power Point and that you cannot just click the presenter to move to the next slide, you will need to be at the computer to click on the arrow or use the presenter to click on the arrow.

9. If you need to do a journal with pictures of the work that you have completed on a product, you can use a blog to create this. The only blog site that can be accessed at school is Blogger. You can add pictures to each journalling entry. Remember, a blog sets your date, so you cannot do these journal entries all in one day. Here are some examples of good blogs and not so good blogs from CCHS. Remember, do not add too much personal information for your safety.

If you have any questions about any of this, or if you have any new ideas, please let me know. I am here to help you in anyway that I can. You can email me at kscott@cabarrus.k12.nc.us
